Regulatory policy
What Gro is, what it is not, and how it supports the regulated firms that use it.
Last updated 6 October 2026
Gro is software
Gro is software for financial firms. It does not provide financial advice. It does not manage investments, arrange deals for clients or hold client money.
The firm stays responsible
Firms that use Gro are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Each firm remains responsible for:
- The advice it gives and its suitability for each client.
- Its outcomes for customers under the Consumer Duty.
- Its own records, systems and controls.
Gro prepares analysis, flags clients who need attention and records decisions. The adviser decides.
How Gro supports compliance
- Every recommendation and the decision taken on it is recorded with who acted, when and why.
- Records are append-only and hash-chained. They cannot be edited or deleted without the change being detected.
- Compliance teams can search and export records by client, adviser or firm, as evidence for the Consumer Duty.
- Backtests use only data that was available at each point in time, so results do not rely on hindsight.
- Trading is switched off by default. A firm turns it on for each strategy, and every strategy has a kill switch.
- Orders go through the firm's own broker, under the firm's own account.
Past performance
Any performance figures on this website are backtested results, not live trading. They exclude dealing costs, platform fees and tax. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
Performance content is reviewed by a compliance adviser before it is published.
Outsourcing and due diligence
A firm may treat Gro as an outsourced or third-party service. We provide the information firms need for their own due diligence, including how we secure data, keep records and manage changes.
Market data
Gro uses market data under licence from its providers. Firms can also connect their own data provider, under their own licence.
